“The guitarist Jonas Egholm is not merely one of the greatest talents in Denmark today. He is made of the rare material from which stars are born. A true soloist of international calibre, he masters everything from the earliest music to the most contemporary repertoire. And he possesses an almost pandemic ability: he is contagious!” – DR P2
Born in 1997, Jonas Egholm has already established himself as one of the world’s leading young classical guitarists through performances, awards, and recognition across the globe. He has performed and given masterclasses in countries including Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, China, and Japan.
At the age of ten, Jonas made his debut as a soloist with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra on tour in Denmark and Germany. Since then, he has appeared with several orchestras and ensembles, including the Odense Symphony Orchestra, the South Denmark Philharmonic, and Esbjerg Ensemble.
In 2020, he won First Prize at the International Guitar Festival José Tomás Villa de Petrer — one of the world’s most prestigious guitar competitions — which led to concert tours in Spain, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico. His debut album Guitar Recital (2022) was released on all major streaming platforms as well as on CD, and was selected as “Album of the Week” by DR P2 in March 2023. That same year, Jonas was named “P2 Talent of the Year” by Danish National Radio.
In 2023, Jonas graduated from the soloist class at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he also completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He further studied at the prestigious Máster en Interpretación de Guitarra in Alicante, Spain, with some of the world’s foremost guitarists — including David Russell, Ricardo Gallén, Hopkinson Smith, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, Tilman Hoppstock, Roberto Aussel, and Ignacio Rodés — graduating with the highest distinction, Cum Laude.
Alongside his international performing career, Jonas continues his artistic development at the Segovia Guitar Academy in Pordenone, Italy, where he studies with Paolo Pegoraro, one of the world’s most respected guitar pedagogues.
Today, Jonas works as an international concert guitarist, performing throughout Europe and abroad. Alongside his concert activities, he is frequently invited to give lectures and masterclasses at conservatories, music academies, music schools, and MGK programmes in Denmark and around the world.
Jonas teaches guitarists of all ages and levels — from complete beginners to advanced conservatory and music academy students. With experience as both an international concert performer and dedicated teacher, he offers personalized lessons focused on musicality, technique, and artistic development.
